The Chinese Book Center is inaugurated at INTEC

SANTO DOMINGO. - The Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library, the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) with the support from the China International Communications Group (CICG) and from the Confucius Institute, inaugurated the Chinese Book Center, an initiative that seeks to promote and spread Chinese culture and literature in the world.

The event was headed by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in the Dominican Republic, Chen Luning, who specified that a total of 692 Chinese books were brought to the China Book Center, "waiting for a "meeting" with Dominican readers."

He indicated that the books cover a wide variety of content and provide a large number of display items of Chinese culture to satisfy the enthusiasm and curiosity of Dominicans about China, so that they can better know the millenary history and the splendid civilization and culture of China. , and that they have a more enriching and three-dimensional vision of what a contemporary China is.

“The establishment of the China Book Center is another achievement of humanistic exchange and cooperation between China and the Dominican Republic. We trust that, after reading these books, more and more Dominicans will intensify their knowledge about Chinese culture, and may become hooked with it. We hope that the installation of this center will become a pilot window that facilitates the study and teaching of the Chinese language, and a paradigm of exchange and mutual learning between different civilizations," said Ambassador Chen Luning.

On his side, the Research Director of INTEC, Charles Sanley, on behalf of the rector Julio Sánchez Maríñez, thanked the Chinese Community and the ambassador of that nation for granting the university a "second commendation": the China Book Center, which constitutes, in his words, a way to expand the links with the great Chinese culture, with very deep roots and such a long history.

The Director of Research indicated that the Chinese Book Center will receive donations of 200 books per year from the publisher Sinolingua, and said he is sure that these texts will serve to strengthen the cultural link between the Dominican Republic and China, and will open up more curiosity among our students to get more involved in their long culture.

Present at the opening ceremony were INTEC, the director of the Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library, Elsi Jiménez; the director of Permanent Education, Carlos Reyes; the director of the Confucius Institute, Vanessa Robles; the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute Wang Yue.
