IMCA supports the SAEC Formula SAE Project

Santo Domingo. Through an agreement signed with the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo INTEC, the company Implementos y Maquinarias (IMCA), sealed its support as Silver Sponsor of the first INTEC Formula SAE Project (F-SAE), which develops a team of students from different areas of the university, in order to represent the Dominican Republic in the competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), next year 2012 in Michingan, United States.

The company will promote the development of the model with RD $ 40,000 and other inputs such as tires, lubricants, among others. The project, headed by the students Alejandro Andrés Calvanese, of Mechanical Engineering and Carlos Ariel De Jesús, of Mechatronic Engineering, consists of a university prototype of Formula car, developed with all the infrastructure at the level of laboratories, workshops, organization and logistics.

Of the contribution granted, 40 thousand pesos will be delivered physically, and the remaining 79 thousand will be prorated in contributions for the acquisition of the Michelin tires of the vehicle and the 1 Mobile lubricants for the engine.

The agreement signed by the rector of INTEC, Rolando M. Guzmán and the president of IMCA Pedro T. Esteva, also establishes that the vehicle will display IMCA logos on the sides and that it will be in effect during the prototype's useful life.

The SAE competition is held every year in the United States and is the main global event in its category. In the exhibition, the appearance of the design and manufacture of the vehicle, as well as its behavior, are evaluated. To do this, students must present a project report that includes a presentation of their design and an economic study of what it would cost to manufacture 1,000 vehicle units.

The signature of the participation and sponsorship agreement was made this December 9 in the rectory of INTEC in the presence of Ivette Bautista, Director of Development and Graduates and María Penkova, in charge of the Mechanics Laboratory of INTEC.
