Writers and writers analyze business opportunities


SANTO DOMINGO. The Association of Writers and Writers of the Dominican Republic (AEGRD) in collaboration with the Coalition of Services of the Dominican Republic (CSRD) held the First Creative Meeting of Writers and Writers in the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), which was attended by local and foreign experts.

The activity was sponsored by Caribbean Export, Directorate of Foreign Trade and Administration of Commercial Treaties (Dicoex) and the European Union, as well as the support of General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE)EGEDA Dominicana. 

"The opportunities to export services in cultural industries are multiple, today's event focuses on film writers who are an indispensable element, but who also have to have a strategy to place themselves in the markets. Equally, we must continue promoting the platform where the different components of the film industry are integrated. This also includes the SMEs that supply it, "explained Taiana Mora, coordinator of the CSRD. 

The training event included the participation of speakers in the topics of business strategy, animation industry, copyright, industry trends and audiences, video games as new opportunities for creators, among others.

The invited speakers were: Luis Arambilet, president of AEGRD and EGEDA Dominicana, who discussed the topic “Strategic vision and value chain of the Dominican film industry”; Dreamworks specialist, Mónica Jiménez Grillo, who addressed the topic of the "Animation Industry"; as well as Nelson Jiménez from EGEDA Dominicana, who spoke about the “Role of EGEDA Dominicana and copyright”; and the Cuban scriptwriter and director Rolando Díaz, gave a video presentation on "Trends in the industry and audiences."

Likewise, the INTEC professor, Jorge Morillo, gave his lecture about the “Curriculum existing in INTEC and the current dimension of the video game industry as new opportunities for creators”; while the specialist Sergio Sánchez gave a vision about "The consumer of products and the history of the videogame industry"; and the Catalan journalist, director and documentarian, Carlos Bosch, concluded with the exhibitions with the theme "Creative participation in the documentary narrative structure".

The event was attended by an audience composed of film writers members of the AEGRD, writers of the Dominican Language Academy, INTEC diploma students and the general public.
