34 graduates social leaders and officials in social and political management for inclusion


SANTO DOMINGO. The Center for Governance and Social Management (CEGES) of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), the National Institute for Training and Training of Teachers (INAFOCAM)  and National Council on Disability (CONADIS) 34 social leaders and public officials graduated from the second Diploma in Social and Political Management for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities.

Graduates of the Diploma belong to various organizations and NGOs that work on disability, officials of CONADIS and other governmental bodies, and it is expected that in the near future they will be multiplying agents that promote the mobilization, sensitization and commitment of citizens in the interest in the affairs of the group of people with disabilities, and the responsibility of public authorities in the implementation of policies aimed at their integration. 

The teaching staff was made up of renowned experts in the areas of democratic governance and political advocacy and on disability such as Flavio Darío Espinal, Javier Cabreja, Olivo Rodríguez, Federico Corporán, Rafael Enrique de León, Isidoro Santana and Luis Ortega.

In addition, Miguelina Ramírez Kelly, Antonella Cellucci, Guillermo Díaz, Magino Corporán, Robert Almonte, Joaquin Prestol, Casimiro Maldonado, Manuel Ortega, Cándido Mercedes, Claudio Adams, Wilson Rodríguez, Franco Brazoban Moisés Mendez and Pengsieng Sang Ben.

During 14 weeks and with a total of 82 teaching hours, the Diploma trained social activists and public officials in matters related to the Sociology of Disability, Institutional Design of the Dominican State, Political Parties and Citizenship, Public Administration, Public Policies and Management Social, Democracy and Disability, Political Incidence of Civil Society and Political Management.

As a final work, the participants drew up an Advocacy Plan / Improvement Plan to intervene in a disability-related problem and initiate a transformation strategy that involves key political actors in their locality as well as senior officials of the ministries where they work. 

The delivery of diplomas was attended by Antonella Cellucci, Technical Director of CONADIS and Rafael Toribio, Director of CEGES, who highlighted the importance of this type of training to achieve the inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of society and They expressed continuing efforts to ensure that this type of training is extended to the different regions of the country. 

After the ceremony, the National Flower of the Dominican Republic was planted in the INTEC "Rosa de Bayahíbe", as part of a campaign of CONADIS and the National Botanical Garden.
