Winners Second Student Research Competition


SANTO DOMINGO. Psychology students Carla Reyes, Nicole Garrido and Katherine Aquino obtained first place in the Second Student Research Competition of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) with its project “Personality traits and social skills in INTEC”.

The contest, organized by the Vice-Rector for Research and Liaison, received this year 19 research proposals prepared by students with the advice of their teachers, with a total of 48 participants.

The studies worthy of second and third place, respectively, were “Quality of service, quality of work life and burnout in hospitals” prepared by psychology students Triny Mejía and Marineidy Pérez and “Artificial cloud machine” by Mechatronics Engineering student Francarlos Bencosme.

The first-place winning team was awarded a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, a 50% credit grant, and a one-quarter enrollment for the entire team, while the Principal Investigator of the second selected research won a 16-inch Kindle Tablet. G, a scholarship of 35% of the credits of a quarter for the whole team.

For the third place scholarships of the 25% of the credits of a quarter for all the equipment were given.

The jury was integrated by the director of INTEC Consulting and Services, Ailin Lockward; the director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center Anne Sophie Tejeda and the person in charge of the Nanotechnology Laboratory, Melvin Arias.

He said that the contest also seeks to encourage the development and execution of original research projects created by students under the guidance of a professor or INTEC researcher. The selected projects must have the scientific rigor in order to be published.

"And with this version we have advanced in the achievement of the objective of strengthening the integral formation of the student, promoting creativity, innovation, critical reasoning, linking these skills with the learning of the programs of the different academic areas, while trying at the same time a link with the world of work and the improvement of society, "Paz added.

The awards ceremony was held in the Meeting Room of the Vice-Rector for Research and Liaison and was headed by Vice-Rector Indhira De Jesús.
