Fundamentals of Biophysics for the grade level
SANTO DOMINGO. The professor of the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences Velicko Vranes presented the work "Fundamentals of Biophysics", a text addressed to medical students to learn the basic concepts of that branch of science.
The presentation was made during an event in the Videoconference Room of INTEC, which was attended by Professor José Aceituno; the academic vice chancellor, José Feliz; the dean deputy of the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences, Leonte Ramírez; Professor Javier Maimón, as well as dozens of relatives of the author, professors and students.
"This book fills a gap that affects students from different branches that require up-to-date information on biophysics," said Professor Ramírez. He said that the Area is filled with satisfaction that one of its professors publishes a book for teaching.
When making the presentation of the work, Professor Javier Maimón explained that it is the result of long hours of research, study and analysis. He stated that Biophysics is a relatively new discipline and therefore somewhat unknown, but highly disciplined.
The student of Medicine Grace Garcia, of the first group of students to consult the book for teaching, said that the text makes it possible to understand the basic concepts of Biophysics, and to understand in a simple way about that branch of science, "when one Lee feels the professor's voice speaking to him, "he said.
In addressing some of the attendees, Professor Vranes explained that the production of the book took about three years and that he decided to work on it because most of the biophysical books on the market are very specialized and are not designed for students of the same level. of degree.
He thanked the support received from his academic area, fellow teachers and the university for the realization of the book, also to his family and friends.
Professor Velicko Vranes is of Serbian origin. Graduated in General Physics at the University of Belgrade, Serbia, with a master's degree in Biophysics from that academy and in Higher Education from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). He is a PhD candidate in Biophysics at the University of Belgrade. Since February of the year 2001 has worked as a professor of INTEC in the subjects General Physics 1, 2 and 3, Differential Calculus, Physics for Life 1 and 2, among others. He has published two physics laboratory manuals for INTEC.
