SM Foundation presents UNESCO's report "Reimagining the future of education together" in Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo
SANTO DOMINGO. - The SM Foundation presented the report of the UNESCO qualified "Reimagining futures together: a new social contract for education" in the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). The report, which addresses proposals and opportunities to transform education in the 21st century, was presented with the participation of academic authorities, teachers, and students of the education program at this higher education center.
"The report'Reimagining education together' "It is an urgent call to transform education at a global level. It advocates for an education that is more equitable, more digitalized and resilient to the challenges of the future," said Dr. Irene Machado, coordinator of undergraduate and graduate level of the Social Sciences and Humanities Area of INTEC. In this same order, inviting all attendees to Reimagine education together as a collective effort at the university and individually in their classrooms.
The presentation of the report was made, via streaming from Spain, by José González Ochoa, Program Director of the SM Foundation, who highlighted the importance of rethinking the educational model to adapt it to the social, technological, environmental and pedagogical changes of the contemporary world. During his speech, José explained that the report underlines the need for a more inclusive and sustainable approach to education, where all students can access quality learning opportunities throughout their lives.
Jackson Almonte, responsible for the actions of SM Foundation in the Dominican Republic, indicated that this has been chosen by UNESCO for the dissemination and dissemination of the report Reimagining the future together: a new social contract for education.
Almonte also reaffirmed the commitment to face current challenges, contributing an educational project that responds to three strategic challenges: educational equity, education for global citizenship and the promotion of reading. In this same order, educational research, together with teacher training, comprehensive literacy and socio-educational intervention represent the four areas of intervention of the SM Foundation.
The event was attended by Ericsson De La Rose, INTEC graduate, who shared his experience participating in Aula Go, one of the SM Foundation's global teacher training projects, which consists of an intervention program with the collaboration of young people between 18 and 25 years old interested in education and teaching and with the challenge of collaboratively designing an innovative learning space as a first step to promote change in education and educational environments.
Ericsson announced that he traveled to Mexico with 10 other young Latin Americans to carry out this project at the Roberto Montes de Oca Institute in León, Guanajuato.
The presentation of the report, moderated by José Elías Ortiz Marchena, a student at INTEC, took place in the Social Security Auditorium (OSES) of INTEC and was attended by Jael Alevante, coordinator of the Psychopedagogical block of the Social Sciences and Humanities Area of INTEC, teachers and students of the Bachelor's Degrees Oriented to Secondary Education of INTEC, as well as managers and teachers of pre-university educational centers.
