Franco Gómez Ramírez is elected President of the Board of Regents of INTEC


SANTO DOMINGO. Civil engineer Franco Gómez Ramírez was elected president of the Board of Regents of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), while the public accountant José Manuel Santos was chosen as vice president and the industrial engineer, Ricardo Pérez, in the position of secretary.

The election of the new executive committee was held in the body's ordinary session held on August 26, 2021 and will be in effect during the 2021-2022 period. Gómez Ramírez succeeds the presidency of the industrial engineer graduated from INTEC, Jordi Portet, Corporate Vice President of Finance of the SID Group, and Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Industrial Society (SID).

The Board of Regents is the highest governing body of INTEC and, as such, the legal administrator of its institutional assets, which belongs to Dominican society. The Board is periodically renewed with members who perform their duties on a voluntary and honorary basis. By statutory mandate, the majority of the body's members must be university graduates. It is made up of fifteen members, including the rector, Julio Sánchez Maríñez, as well as various prominent people and professionals from society.

The organization's members are the industrial engineers Katherine Motyka, Jordi Portet and Sadala Khoury, the pulmonologist Jorge Marte Báez and the educator Rosalina Perdomo, all graduates of INTEC; Fabiola Herrera, specialist in technological innovation; Roberto Herrera, economist; the engineer René Grullón, the economist Francesca Rainieri and the lawyers Elianna Peña Soto and Ana Judith Alma.

New Executive Committee

The elected President of the Board of Regents is a Civil Engineer graduated from INTEC, with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2001), in addition to an MBA from BARNA Business School, and MSCE Concentration in Pavement Engineering and Engineering. He is currently the Technical Director of EPSA-LABCO.

Franco Gómez Ramírez has more than 16 years of professional practice with experience in analysis, design and construction supervision of engineering projects.

He has been a member of the Board of Regents since 2016 and serves as Coordinator of the Infrastructure Commission. He is a member of the Academic Commission, and of the Executive Committee since 2019.

Meanwhile, José Manuel Santos, elected as vice-president of the organization, is a graduate of the postgraduate degree in Senior Management from INTEC and a graduate of accounting from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). His career covers different executive positions in banking since 1985, activity that he has combined with teaching in the areas of analysis of financial statements, accounting and auditing.

He has been a member of the Board of Regents since 2015, in which he has performed various functions: coordinator of the Finance and Audit Commission (current), coordinator of the Infrastructure Commission and of which he continues to be a member. He is also a member of the Nominating Commission of the Board of Regents.

The new Secretary of the Board of Regents, industrial engineer Ricardo Pérez, is a graduate of INTEC with a Master's Degree in Management Systems from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez. He has extensive experience in manufacturing, engineering, marketing, administration, finance, business, and personnel management both locally and internationally.

He is a member of the Board of Regents since 2017, past Coordinator of the Marketing and Communications Commission, of which he is a member. He is also a member of the Finance and Audit Committee.
