International experts say that in the DR there is 4G technology



Santo Domingo. El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) successfully held the first forum on 4G in the country entitled: "Looking towards the future of technology", which featured the keynote address by international expert Jose F. Otero, President of Signals Telecom Group and Engelbert Reyes Cabrera, Head of Huawei Solutions.

The opening remarks to the forum were given by Dr. Rolando Guzmán, Intec rector, and were followed by the intervention of Ing. Nelson Guillén, member of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel). During the activity, which took place in the framework of the 40th anniversary of the university, both specialists agreed that the 4G network is a reality in Latin America and the world and explained that WiMax, LTE and HSPA + technologies are considered by the International Union Telecommunications (ITU) as fourth generation networks, which are available in the Dominican Republic.

The exhibitors estimated that by 2017 the 4G technology will reach half of the world's population, with approximately one billion active subscriptions, providing broadband for all citizens.

Also participating as panelists were Santiago Peralta, vice president of Engineering and Operations of Tricom; Razvan Ungureanu, Vice President of Technology at Orange Dominicana and Manuel Mendoza, Engineering Director of the WIND Telecom Network. They considered that the 4G network benefits efforts to reduce the digital divide and argued that it allows a series of advanced services that require high performance and data transmission speeds.

The talk "4G in Latin America" ​​was given by Mr. José Otero who is one of the leading experts in the telecommunications industry in Latin America and the Caribbean. His experience includes working on projects related to the development of the Pay TV industry (CATV, IPTV and DTH), the implications of convergence and consolidation for the sector, viability of marketers for long distance services, MVNOs, fixed / mobile VoIP , 3G mobile services, WiMAX, LTE, network neutrality, and others.
His company, Signals Telecom Group, is a consortium specialized in providing up-to-date information on the telecommunications sector in Latin America through specialized research, consulting and the publication of Signals Telecom News, a daily news bulletin.

On his side Engelbert Reyes Cabrera gave the talk "Technological infrastructure for
LTE Networks ". Mr. Reyes is an industrial engineer from INTEC University and has extensive professional experience in the area of ​​telecommunications, with 2001 taking part in 2006 as a Practical Engineer, Procedures and Quality Assurance in Claro - Codetel, Later in 2007 moves to the Operations Center of the Claro Network. Then he moves to the area of ​​Wireless Projects in Claro as "Project Controller".

The 4G forum “Looking towards the future of technology” was held in the Julio Ravelo de la Fuente room, of the Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library of INTEC and was attended by executives from universities and telecommunications companies, members of the press, technology experts , students and the general public.
