Students present results of 11 investigations


SANTO DOMINGO. First year students of the Health Sciences and Basic and Environmental Sciences Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) presented the results of 11 scientific research during the 67 BIO-INTEC conference.

During the day, which is organized every quarter, students presented the results of studies on topics such as "Determination of techniques used in the surgical management of brachial plexus injuries in patients treated by the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery of a hospital de Santo Domingo "and" Prevalence of child abuse as a reason for admission to the emergency room of a pediatric hospital in Santo Domingo ".

Also, "Evaluation of results of laparoscopic diagnoses made to infertile women who attended the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of a hospital in Santo Domingo", "Determination of the relationship between body mass index and sedentary lifestyle in the undergraduate students of Medicine a University of Santo Domingo "and" Determination of the relationship between personality traits and substance use in addicted patients belonging to rehabilitation centers ".

Similarly, during the day that was held in the Hall Julio Ravelo de la Fuente, students presented the research "Prevalence of low weight in newborns treated in the department of perinatology of a hospital in Santo Domingo", "Evaluation of knowledge of the resident doctors on the reform of the health system "and" Frequency of the use of contraceptive methods in adolescents who attend the Area of ​​Gynecology and Obstetrics of a hospital in Santo Domingo ".

The Bio-INTEC Scientific Conference began in the year 1983 with the theme "For the re-encounter between Science and Life" and is organized by the Health Sciences and Basic and Environmental Sciences of INTEC, with the participation of the Department of Humanities and Vice-rectorship of Research and Liaison.

Among the objectives of the activity is to develop in the future health professionals in methodological skills to train in the research process, encourage teamwork and induce the search for alternatives and solutions to the problems in the health system.
