4th grade students Degree studies on the Apollo 27 team from INTEC


The feat of the INTEC students who represent the Dominican Republic before NASA is part of the thematic content of the fourth grade books used by the Ministry of Education in the country's schools.

SANTO DOMINGO. - Fourth grade primary school students of the public schools country they learn about him or services for the biography in the subject de Spanish language, through the history of the engineer José Ezequiel Díaz and Apollo 27 team of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), which has won four awards in different categories in the Human Exploration Challenge organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Díaz was invited to the public school “Mission You Can”, behind the Najayo Penitentiary Center, San Cristóbal, to give a talk on the occasion of the Youth Day and to his surprise, the students with whom he spoke already knew him, and his biography is contained in unit 3 of his Spanish Language books, which are produced by the Ministry of Education.

The cover of the unit has a large photograph of the Apollo 27 team during its participation in the 2023 competition when the Dominican team won the Most Improved Award and Spirit Award in the NASA competition in 2023 and in the right margin the following text : "On the cover appears a photograph of the young Dominicans from Apollo 27 from INTEC who so far have won four first prizes at NASA." 

The content of this unit aims to understand the concept of biography, and shows as an example the biography of the teacher and also Outstanding Graduate of INTEC, José Ezequiel Díaz, tutor of the Apolo 27 team.

Diaz He posted a video on his social networks showing visibly excited by recognition who receives the Apollo 27 team that him Ministry of Education will select his story and that of the team that represents the Dominican Republic and immortalize it in a textbook through which thousands of children are educated in all public schools in the 32 provinces of the country.

“This is a recognition of the hard work of the young people who prepare every year to represent the Dominican Republic and INTEC in the NASA competition,” said the teacher.

Díaz explained that the students knew a lot about the Apollo 27 team because they had had to study and give presentations about it. Likewise, the INTEC professor said he was happy that the feat of the young people from different parts of the country and students from different INTEC careers who make up the Apollo 27 team is recognized in this way, because through them it is possible to Inspire other children to pursue their dreams.

The Apollo 27 team was received by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Pena, at the National Palace; In addition, they were declared “Intecians Pride” by the INTEC Academic Council and received recognition from the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, following the proposal of Senator Franklin Rodríguez, from San Cristóbal, who valued the performance of the Intecians in placing the Flag Dominican in a high place abroad.
