Specialists analyze 6to social science book. grade

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Social Sciences and Humanities Area of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) carried out the panel "Social sciences, school learning and critical thinking", in which three expert teachers analyzed the content of the book that was used in the country's schools and colleges.

Fátima Portorreal, Raymundo González and José Antinoe Fiallo, specialists in anthropology and socio-historical processes, formed the panel that was held in the Osvaldo García de la Concha auditorium and attended by dozens of teachers.

Last August the textbook was questioned by educators and historians, who argued that the new book has racist and distorting content of the historical reality of the country. After it was submitted for review, the Ministry of Education decided to replace it with schools and colleges throughout the country with a new version.

INTEC organized the panel with the aim of contributing to the discussion around the educational materials assigned by the national education system. Currently the texts of Spanish Language and Natural Sciences are also in the process of being revised.
