INTEC team crowns sub champion in university chess tournament


SANTO DOMINGO. The team of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) was runner-up runner-up National University Chess Tournament, who organized the National Commission of University Sports with the participation of 18 players institutions of higher education.


The students Hugo Bueno, Jonathan Guerrero, Rainiel Torres, Daniel Matos and Captain Juan Peralta They achieved a score of 13 points and a half in five games during the competition, which was held at the end of July on the campus of the Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE).


The first place went to the team of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), which achieved a score of 19 in five games and third place for the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA).


As part of the tournament, the student Daniel Matos of INTEC was selected Best Fifth Board, so it will be part of the National University Team that will represent the country in the World University Chess Championship.


Other institutions that participated in the tournament are the Universidad Central del Este, Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), APEC University, Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), OyM University, Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and the Instituto Cígico Oriental (ITECO).


Also, Salome Ureña Teacher Training Institute (ISFODOSU), Barahona Technological University (UCATEBA), Higher Agricultural Institute (ISA), Loyola Specialized Institute of Higher Studies (IEESL), Las Americas Technological Institute, Santo Domingo Catholic University (UCSD) and the National Institute of Exact Sciences (INCE).
