In its 45 anniversary, INTEC graduates 871 professionals


SANTO DOMINGO. The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) delivered 871 new undergraduate and graduate professionals to the country today during its fifty-fifth graduation ceremony, which highlights the first promotions of six postgraduate programs in whose teaching the university is a pioneer in the country.

At the ceremony, which was held at the Port Sansoucí Terminal, the first graduates of the Specialty in Actuarial Calculation: Life and Pensions; of the Master in Structural Engineering, virtual modality, of the Master's degrees in Clinical Nutriology and in Obesology and Dietetics. In addition, INTEC awarded the first graduates of the master's degree in Human Talent Management with a concentration in Organizational Development, of double degree with the Institute of Superior Studies of Administration (IESA). INTEC is the only university in the country that offers these programs.

During this ceremony, 517 women and 354 men also received their titles. Of that amount, 49% (424) belong to undergraduate level and 51% (447) to graduate level. INTEC has awarded 31,293 titles since its founding on October 9, 1972.

The ceremony

The welcoming speech was given by the Rector of INTEC, Dr. Rolando M. Guzmán, who called on the graduates to always pursue the good of society, “Every coin has two sides. In this case, the coin they receive upon graduation has, on the one hand, a great deal of pride and satisfaction, but on the other hand, they have a moral obligation to contribute new knowledge to improve the living conditions of the community ”, he said.

He said that there is no doubt that they will have a great future due to the training and preparation that INTEC gave them, plus the amount of opportunities the world offers today.

The Argentine journalist called on young people to be authentic and to live in the present: “Those who are not present do not know who they are or what they want. He does not know what moves him, what makes him vibrate. It is in something else. It is in the past or in the future. It is not in the moment and therefore does not connect; because he doesn't feel ”, he reflected.

Roitberg recommended that graduates not be selfish professionals, but have a shared purpose "because today's world does not demand only professionals, it demands professionals who are transparent, understand speed, live in a more socially conscious world and, above all, who know to collaborate. It calls for professionals who are not selfish, who have, in life, a shared purpose ”.

The graduating class with the highest rate of the promotion, Johnny René Pimentel Báez (with an index of 4 points), a graduate of the Electrical Engineering career, gave the speech on behalf of the graduates, in which he specified that the great achievements are the fruit of dedication, consistency and discipline.

“It is as if we were an arrow, the tighter the rope, the greater the achievement we can achieve. The big goals do not have fast access roads, they come on narrow roads, we must put aside those little voices that call us to postpone activities and that these are the ones that give us a sign that we are stopping doing important things, "he said. excited.

The swearing in was in charge of Pamela Marcel Rodríguez Vásquez, a graduate of the Accounting career, and recipient of a scholarship from the INTEC Program with Outstanding Students (PIES).

In figures

31.8% of the graduates belong to the Area of ​​Health Sciences; 29.4% to the Engineering Area; 25% to the Economy and Business Area; 12.2% to Social Sciences and Humanities and 1.6% to the Basic and Environmental Sciences Area.

Of the total graduates, 98 obtained academic honors. Of these, 41 reached the Cum Laude index; 38 Magna Cum Laude and 19 highest Summa Cum Laude honors. A total of 14 young scholars obtained their professional degrees through the INTEC PIES Program.
