The Data Center, which is headquartered in the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) is a source of information related to compliance and progress of the 15 migration policy measures established by the Dominican government.
It will include data from key sources related to national and international immigration policies. It also serves as a platform to gather suggestions from citizens regarding compliance with the 15 current immigration policy measures.
The details were provided by the president of the Executive Commission of the Observatory of Migration Policies and director of Listín Diario, Miguel Franjul, as he led, along with the members of the organization and the members of the Technical Committee, the formal opening ceremony of the Data Center and the OPM Website.
Franjul explained that the Data Center conducts analyses to determine the percentages of compliance with the 15 migration policy measures, which is the mission assigned to the Observatory, so that an idea of the levels of compliance can be obtained and to warn about possible delays that may arise.
The OPM will also have a website to provide news and relevant information about the work it does throughout the country and newsletters related to the missions it carries out.
Following the opening ceremony, the OPM held its first joint meeting of 2026 to discuss and approve the agenda of activities to be developed.
The Migration Policy Observatory was created as a space for citizen exchange aimed at strengthening organized oversight, transparency, and the participation of civil society in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of the Dominican State's migration policies.
The decree adds that the Observatory may incorporate other members of civil society and create permanent working groups with specialists in the field. It establishes that members will serve on a voluntary basis and that the Observatory will operate under the functional authority of the National Migration Council.
The Migration Policy Observatory is part of the measures announced by President Abinader to address irregular immigration and guarantee national security.
