INTEC participates in the annual meeting of RIBIERSE-CYTED, Network for the large-scale integration of renewable energies in electrical systems

Miguel Aybar, a research professor at INTEC, participated in the annual meeting held by the network to take stock of collaborations, scientific articles, research and mobility projects, as well as the network's planning for 2025.

SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) belongs to the Ibero-American Network for the large-scale integration of renewable energies into the electricity systems of RIBIERSE-CYTEDThe network seeks to accelerate the energy transition in Latin America by integrating renewable sources into electrical systems.

Through research, technological development and collaboration between academia, industry and governments, the creation of more sustainable and resilient energy systems is promoted. In addition, training and knowledge dissemination are encouraged to promote the adoption of clean technologies and build a shared vision towards a more sustainable energy future.

El Professor Miguel Aybar, from the Engineering Department and researcher at INTEC in renewable energy and sustainable development issues, he moved to the Faculty of Engineering of the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY) to collaborate in the working group on Methodologies for evaluating the realistic potential of electricity generation through the hybridization of renewable sources, in which universities, research centers and companies presented the advances developed that contribute to achieving the development of this network topic.

This annual meeting, held from November 12 to 14, was organized by the Network Coordinator Jesús de la Casa Hernández, where more than 47 research groups and more than 271 researchers participated.

INTEC integrating projects for sustainable development.

Currently, INTEC is working on significant projects in the field of renewable energy, calculation and optimization methodologies to increase the interconnection capacity in the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), in addition to integrating the electrical distribution network. The projects, financed by FONDOCYT and Own Funds, position the institution as a point of reference in the research of sustainable solutions for the energy sector of the Dominican Republic.

The alliance between INTEC and the Network of Renewable Energy Researchers of the Ibero-American Region (RED RIBIERSE) also constitutes an important step forward in promoting research and innovation in the field of renewable energy in the region. Both institutions share knowledge and experiences for mutual benefit.

By analysing the impact of incorporating renewable energy sources and creating strategies to reduce their variability, the transition towards more sustainable electrical systems is promoted.

At the same time, the development of skills in emerging individuals is promoted through participation in academic exchange programs and collaboration in joint research projects.

“The projects carried out by the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) in the field of renewable energies have a positive impact on the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic. The promotion of clean and efficient energy sources aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, mitigate the impacts of climate change and improve the well-being of the population,” explained Miguel Aybar.
