Psychology graduate presents research results

SANTO DOMINGO. In an emotional ceremony, the psychology graduate of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), María Eugenia Amorós Teijeiro, presented the book “Learning strategies in students of INTEC”, in which she analyzes the methods used by the students of the university to achieve learning.

In most careers, both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation were found among the highest scores, “students understand that the main engine for taking advantage of classes is themselves, but they also recognize that there are different factors that they cannot control, ”says the study.

Another result indicates that students of all careers present high levels of anxiety, which could be attributed to the quarterly academic system that works in INTEC.

For the evaluation of learning strategies, the Evaluation Questionnaire for Learning Strategies in University Students was developed by Gargallo, Suárez-Rodríguez and Pérez in the 2009.

Research is a resource for the academic planning of teachers, monitors, career coordinators, administrative staff and university authorities, as it brings them closer to evaluating the best techniques for their students to assimilate the contents.

The act of putting into circulation was headed by the dean of the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities, Elsa Alcántara; Julio Leonardo Valeirón, INTEC professor and executive director of the  Dominican Institute for Evaluation and Research of Educational Quality (IDEICE), institution that selected the author to participate as a researcher in the first edition of the Young Researchers Program (2014-2015).
