Graduates second promotion of the Concentration in Project Management


SANTO DOMINGO. -The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) delivered certificates to 63 students from the Engineering Area who completed the Concentration in Project Management, an initiative that arises with the purpose of adding a differentiating element for graduates in project management, a sector of high demand in the workplace.

The Program, which began in 2021, delivered its second promotion with which it reaches 100 graduates. The Project Management Institute (PMI) establishes that the skills required for all professionals in the area are summarized in the so-called talent triangle, which is made up of technical project management, leadership, and strategy and business.

Julio Sánchez Maríñez, rector of INTEC, indicated that the academy that celebrates its 50 years of foundation in 2022, has always opted for engineering, especially, and every day more what were considered traditional engineering, currently have to be outlined with new areas and market needs. Likewise, Ángela Méndez, PMI Region 13 mentor, motivated the graduates with a story about the importance of decision making. So keep in mind that in the end the decisions you make make you.”

Meanwhile, Nayara Aquino, PMI Dominican Republic Chapter president, thanked INTEC for sharing the learning and urged the graduates to continue with commitment and dedication so that all the effort can be realized. "We have to go through ethics, responsibility and always keep ourselves updated with this knowledge that keeps us at the forefront."

Jonathan Báez, former coordinator of the Logistics Cluster, told the students that it is important that during the course of their professional development they seek new knowledge, but this is based on what they acquire today and they have to take advantage of it because there is a great need in the areas where they are receiving a certification.

Báez mentioned the powers that people must have according to the secrets of abundant wealth, among them are the power of subconscious beliefs, desire for a fiery power, power of solidarity of purpose, power of an organized plan of action, power of perseverance, power of spending regulation, power of integrity, power of faith and charity.

Jorge Miranda, coordinator of the INTEC Concentration, said that the program arises with the purpose of responding to the needs of today's labor market. "This is a big step, and project management is part of everything we do in our lives, there are projects in everything we do."

About the training program

The concentration in Project Management is based on the Guide to the Fundamentals of Project Management (PMBOK® Guide) of the Project Management Institute (PMI), which addresses skills necessary for all professionals and contemplated in the talent triangle, such as such as technical project management, leadership, strategy and business.

The students dedicated 220 hours to this special certification and, for this, they studied two core subjects of the curriculum and three elective subjects. These subjects were Project Formulation and Evaluation (core in engineering), Project Management (core in industrial engineering), Project Team Management (elective), Project Restrictions Management (elective) and Project Management Tools (elective ).
