Professor of Engineering obtains his PhD in Holland

SANTO DOMINGO. With the doctoral thesis "The role of contextual factors in the harmonization of business processes", the teacher of the Engineering Department of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Heidi Romero, obtained his PhD degree in Information Systems in the Technological University of Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

The research affirms that the level of standardization that an industrial process can reach depends on the characteristics of the company, the process and its environment. Similarly, it states that despite the benefits offered by standardization, it is not always optimal to define a single standard, but that variability in processes must be allowed.

They also indicated that the research serves as a basis to understand the reasons why it is difficult for companies to obtain in practice the benefits that standardization promises.

Romero has been a professor in the Engineering Area for more than ten years, currently residing in the Netherlands and teaching the subject Cost analysis in the virtual modality.
