INTRANT Director affirmed transportation requires consequences regime
SANTO DOMINGO. The executive director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), Claudia Franchesca De los Santos, said that for the transformation of the problem of urban transport in the Great Santo Domingo the installation a true regime of consequences.

The official explained that part of the problem is in a increasingly growing vehicle park, which according to the statistics of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII), to the 31 of December 2018 I had 4,350,884 motor vehiclesa 20% growth regarding the 2015. He said that between 2004 and 2018, there has been an increase in motorization nine times greater than population growth.

Regarding the expected results, González indicated that with the investigation the distribution of the effective green in the traffic lights will be optimized, the times of fixed and operational delays will be reduced, a base will be created for synchronization of green light times in corridors and operating results of Validated flow with specialized software simulation.
Rafael Toribio, past rector of INTEC and coordinator of DIA, said that the citizenship perception is that the problem of the urban transport gets worse and it has even become a chronic problem with which one must live. However, Toribio said they know each other experiences that in other countries and cities where it has been achieved successfully face this problem, and considers that the Dominican Republic can emulate these good practices.
INTEC organizes the DIA with the objective of consolidating a space for debate and aimed at identifying solution proposals on relevant issues in all areas of national reality, which is carried out in a plural way and with an impact on the academic, socioeconomic and politics.
