Director of Orange Dominicana talks about new trends in communications

Santo Domingo.- The Director of the R&D Skill Center of Orange Dominicana, Mitsutero Nishio, spoke about the latest national and international trends in communications during the conference "Innovation in Information and Communication Technologies", which was given this Thursday, May 19, at the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology, INTEC.  

The lecturer, a Systems engineer with extensive experience in telecommunications, addressed the subject by focusing on wired and wireless information networks, giving those present the opportunity to learn about and soak up the latest technological developments in these areas.

At 1995, Mitsutero Nishio was responsible for the implementation of the Internet service in the Dominican Republic and 1999 participated in the creation of the first Dominican e-commerce portal called enelpunto, net. That same year he also collaborated with the creation of the first payment gateway, for the validation of credit cards via the Internet, Payment Gateway, both pioneering projects in Latin America.

At 2009 he founded "Resources for Open Community Knowledge" (rock.com.do), a movement affiliated with Alianza ONG, with the aim of promoting ICTs for development in Dominican society.

In addition to belonging to the Orange family for several years, Nishio is representative of the telecommunications operators in the National Commission of the Information and Knowledge Society (CNSIC).

"Innovation in Information and Communication Technologies", took place in the Julio Ravelo de la Fuente Room of the INTEC library and was chaired by Miguel J. Escala and Julio Sánchez Maríñez, rector and vice-rector for Research and Liaison at INTEC. The event was attended by authorities, students, teachers and representatives of institutions specialized in the subject.
