DGAPP and INTEC culminate the fourth edition of the Public-Private Alliances for Journalists workshop
This edition of the APP workshop for journalists and communicators had the participation of more than 40 professionals in the area representing the country's main media outlets.
SANTO DOMINGO. - The fourth edition of the Workshop on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) for Journalists and CommunicatorsOrganized by the General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (DGAPP) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), concluded successfully, bringing together more than 40 communication professionals.
The closing ceremony, held in the INTEC Social Security Auditorium, was presided by Executive Director for the DGAPP, Sigmund Freud and vice-rector of Administration and Finance of INTEC, alliet ortega, who emphasized the crucial role of academia in the development of the country through education.
Likewise, it had the participation of Izalia López, deputy director of Promotion of the DGAPP and responsible for the continuing education program -APPrendiendo-, Elaine Nivar, director of communications of the DGAPP and Carlos Reyes, director of Permanent Education of INTEC.
During the event, Freund highlighted the achievements, projects and challenges of Public Private Partnerships in the Dominican Republic and expressed the importance of journalists and communicators training and expanding their knowledge about the foundations and purposes of PPPs, through this program. and the experience and knowledge of the exhibitors who participated in the fourth edition of the workshop carried out in collaboration with INTEC.
In that order, the official stressed the current importance of public-private alliances as strategic tools to promote private investment in critical infrastructure that the country urgently needs.
As part of the closing of the workshop, a case study was presented on the private initiative for the rehabilitation and construction, financing, operation and maintenance of Puerto Duarte in Arroyo Barril, Samaná. With the materialization of this project, the first infrastructure project developed through a public-private alliance contract under the protection of Law 47-20, a positive impact is expected in the region, stimulating tourism and commerce, and generating approximately 1,050 direct and indirect jobs.
The presentation of the Puerto Duarte case was made by Eliardo Cairo, Deputy Technical Director of the DGAPP.
DGAPP - INTEC Agreement
In August 2022, a collaboration agreement was signed between INTEC and the DGAPP aimed at promoting the development of various academic activities related to Public Private Partnerships (PPP) within the framework of their powers.
This agreement reinforces the joint commitment of both institutions to education and strengthening knowledge in the field of PPPs in the Dominican Republic.
