Apolinar Veloz appointed in IMF department, in Washington


The economist and researcher Apolinar Veloz was appointed as Advisor-Technical Assistant in the Division of Public Financial Management in the Department of Public Affairs at the Washington headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Veloz, who during the last six years served as coordinator of the Economics course of INTEC, was General and Technical Manager of the Central Bank, 2003-2004 and Deputy Minister of Finance, 2001-2002.

He was a macro fiscal advisor for the Ministry of Finance of Equatorial Guinea hired by the IMF during the 2006-2007 period, as well as a technical advisor for the supervision of the East Timor Parliament hired by United Nations Development (UNDP), 2008- 2009. He also had an assignment of TA CAPTAC-IMF on the income forecasts in San Salvador, El Salvador (2012). He was a consultant for USAID-DR to evaluate the Free Trade Agreement between the DR-USA-countries of Central America, DR-CAFTA (2009), and the evaluation of productivity in rice production in DR (2011-2012).

The economist obtained his Master's Degree in Economics and International Policies from (CIDE), Mexico City. He completed a post-degree in Planning and Economic Policies (ILPES), Santiago de Chile, 1981, and a bachelor's degree at the University of Santo Domingo (UASD) at 1980.
