INTEC Master Coordinator Jimmy Barranco presents his nutritional poems
SANTO DOMINGO. Before a crowded Aida Cartagena Portalatín Room of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library, the master's coordinator and the specialty in Clinical Nutriology of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Dr. Jimmy Barranco Ventura, presented his nutritional poems "Spine without spines", a work that collects 25 poems on nutrition issues, divided into sections to facilitate reading.
The verses deal with topics such as disease prevention and treatment, how to live longer and better, the use of ergogenic supplements and its health risks, the infant feeding and intellectual development; The obesity and the challenges of globalization, and each one brings his own Nutrimeter or evaluation constituted by 10 multiple-choice questions, To determine the "nutritional status" of the reader and the tips to optimize it. In addition, the work contains an Appendix in which the meaning of all the technical terminology used in the poems is defined.
"This is a work designed to feed the body, nourish the spirit and satiate the soul, take advantage of the musicality of the tenth spinel, the language of the people, as a strategy to move the soul and captivate reason," said Barranco Ventura during the activity , which commemorated World Food Day and its 50 anniversary of teaching work.

Dr. Barranco Ventura was exalted in the 2018 as "Master of Dominican Medicine" by the Dominican Medical College, for his contributions to the study and teaching of clinical nutritionology. In the 2016, he was recognized as a Distinguished Physician of the Society during the XII ceremony of the National Prize of Medicine of the Dominican Republic.

Similarly, the doctor has a Postgraduate Degree in Clinical Nutritionology from the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition “Dr. Salvador Zubirán ”(Mexico City).
