Agreement to promote innovation


The National Institute of Vocational Technical Training (INFOTEP) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement that will impact on the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship, renewable energy and greenhouses.

Both institutions will also implement common projects, with the purpose of introducing improvements that represent substantial advances in the curricular aspects, teaching and training services, to benefit the development of the productive sectors and contribute to raising their level of competitiveness.

The details of the project were offered during the signing of the agreement, signed by the general director of INFOTEP, Rafael Ovalles and the rector of INTEC, Rolando Guzmán, during an act held in the hall of the Board of Directors of INFOTEP.

Ovalles said that this new alliance establishes the bases for the exchange of knowledge, which will affect the strengthening and updating of training programs aimed at entrepreneurs.

"With this union we will have the opportunity to support young people even more, so that they begin their business plans, while we will identify new strategies to improve the productivity of companies," explained the general director of the governing body of technical training professional.

He added that the agreement has a national scope, and through it, diploma courses will be coordinated in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility and Industrial Processes. In addition, lectures will be organized by teachers of INTEC and INFOTEP, aimed at the productive sectors of the country.

Guzmán highlighted that, through research and studies carried out by INTEC and INFOTEP, university-society-company linkage actions will be strengthened, priority for the institutions. He also stressed that both entities have a collaborative relationship for eight years.


Entrepreneurship support

INFOTEP offers a training and assistance program for entrepreneurs, aimed at fostering the entrepreneurial culture and developing personal characteristics that allow them to identify business opportunities and turn them into competitive companies in the national and international markets.

INTEC has a Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, CEI, which depends on the Vice-Rectory for Research and Liaison, in charge of supporting entrepreneurs to create innovative products and services that add value to society and the economy. 

The main objective of the creation of the CEI-INTEC is to make it easier for students, graduates and professors to visualize a career as entrepreneurs as an option for a corporate career.
