Commemorate World Environment Day

Santo Domingo.- The INTEC platform served as the setting for the university celebration of the "World Environment Day". The meeting began with the welcoming words of Josefina Vásquez, coordinator of the Environment Sub-Area and the interventions of Luis Guillermo and Luz González, responsible for INTEC-Ecológico and the INTEC-verde Web Project, respectively, who gave way to a program of educational talks and the exhibition of INTEC's environmental initiatives.

The groups work in coordination with the Basic Sciences Area, the Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library and the Student Services Division to apply a policy of reducing the use of paper, recycling and classification of waste in the university.

During the day they also exhibited works of students of laboratories and centers, of the master's degree in Basic and Environmental Sciences, as well as books, among them Arbolado de Santo Domingo.

In order to support and guide the public on how to change habits to mitigate the impact of people on the environment, the conferences "Reduce, recycle, reuse" were presented by Violeta Morales from the Center for Agricultural and Forestry Development (CEDAF) ), "Efficient use of energy", by Luis Guillermo; "Species in danger of extinction in the Dominican Republic ", by Yolanda León and “The rational use of water "  by Sergio L. Jáuregui.

The meeting, which was attended by directors, collaborators and INTEC students, also included an open moment of music in the plaza, a concert by the university choir and an ecological rally in the Ecological Park of Investigations, in Pantoja, Santo Domingo Oeste .
