Hispano-American Press Congress recognizes the journalist and INTEC teacher, Rosa Alcántara
SANTO DOMINGO. - The Hispanic American Press Congress recognized to the journalist and coordinator of the race in Social Communication and Digital Media of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Rosa Alcantara, for the service, delivery, perseverance and dedication in their professional practice.
The president of the Hispano-American Press, World University and World Press Congresses, Dr. Amín Cruz, highlighted that they recognize Professor Alcántara for her contributions to education and communication, as well as for her support as a speaker at international conclaves.
Alcántara had participated as a lecturer in the Hispanic American Press Congress in New York City, in 2019, with the topic "Profile of the professional of social communication in the era of knowledge and technologies", and recently was a speaker, in the framework of the virtual celebration of the 23 years of the Congress, with its presentation on the future of international exchange spaces.
In thanking the award, the teacher explained that it is the responsibility of practicing journalists and those in the academy to train present and future generations of journalists to continue the legacy of active participants in the congresses, which constitute paradigms for the defense of human rights, free expression of thought and of the press.
“It has been 23 years of encounters, of learning, of exchanging our cultures, our knowledge and experiences. All of this has been very enriching. It has been an unrepeatable opportunity and an honor to count these years with the participation of emblematic figures such as Gabriel García Márquez, Ignacio Ramonet and with whom we call the father of ethical journalism Javier Darío Restrepo, among other social scientists ”, he stressed.
He proposed to continue supporting the strengthening of these spaces for professional and student exchange with the creation of observatories made up of academics and journalists from Latin American countries to become vigilantes of freedom of expression and of the press.
"That how a single body set positions in countries where journalistic exercise or freedom of the press is limited," he said.
In the same way, he proposed that the World University Congress be a space for the presentation of academic scientific research, carried out by teachers and students, as a way to strengthen the production and dissemination of knowledge in the areas of communication and journalism .
