INTEC collaborators travel to Poland

Five university staff members participated in the International Staff Week (ISW) held at the University of Technology and Arts in Applied Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.

WARSAW, POLAND.- In an experience that combined intercultural exchange, institutional strengthening and global projection of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), five collaborators from different academic and administrative areas participated in the International Staff Week (ISW) held at the University of Technology and Arts in Applied Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.

For a week, they shared best practices with professionals from various European universities, explored opportunities for academic collaboration, and strengthened international ties, in line with the institution's internationalization goals.

Undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as INTEC collaborators, have the opportunity to live experiences such as international mobility in other countries, through the office of Institutional Mobility, which offers community members the opportunity to enrich their academic and professional training by participating in person and/or virtually.

Accompanied by Mayelisa Hidalgo, an analyst in the Mobility Department; Xiara Paulino, Press and Content Manager for the Institutional Communications Directorate; Sheyla De Oleo, administrative assistant at the Confucius Institute; Analucila Gutierrez, an analyst in the Legal Department; and Humberto Grullón, a professor in the Engineering Department at INTEC, they shared their testimonies about the enriching experience.

Xiara Paulino, Head of Press and Content at the Institutional Communications Department

My experience participating in the University of Technology and Arts in Applied Sciences in Warsaw's mobility program during ISW was truly unique. Before starting the process, I received support from the Mobility team, who answered my questions and concerns regarding the process.

Connecting with other professionals from universities in countries such as Kosovo, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, and Poland allowed us to broaden our perspectives and explore concerns about the main challenges of global education. It was exciting to see how each university strives to strengthen knowledge to respond to their country's most pressing needs.

A particularly significant moment for me was the meeting with Elżbieta Peda, Director of Marketing and International Cooperation at UEM, where I had the opportunity to learn how the university manages internal and external communications, both for current students and for young people seeking to pursue their professional careers at the institution. I was also able to understand the working dynamics they use to promote events and activities organized by the deanships.

It was truly an incredible experience. During that week, I spent time with people from all over the world, participated in soft skills workshops, toured the host university's campus, and even had a quick Polish class, which was a lot of fun. What I liked most was the open and collaborative atmosphere, and how everything was designed to promote cultural and professional exchange.

I learned a lot, especially seeing how other universities manage their processes and foster international relations. It was very interesting to compare strategies and realize that, although the contexts are different, there are many ideas that can be adapted to our reality. Furthermore, the workshops helped me strengthen skills I use in my daily work. I also gained a great deal of cultural insight, which undoubtedly helps me have a more open and empathetic perspective in my professional environment.

I would highly recommend it. It's an experience that not only benefits you professionally, but also personally. You meet incredible people, share your culture, learn from others, and take away new ideas that can transform the way you see your work.

Analucila Gutierrez, Legal Department Analyst

My mobility experience in Warsaw was extremely enriching, both professionally and personally. Warsaw is a beautiful city, steeped in history, and I felt very welcomed during my stay. The staff at the host university was friendly and helpful at all times, which facilitated a smooth and positive integration.

The main lessons learned were focused on the academic field. The experience gave me a deeper understanding of the importance of aligning the institutional vision with a firm commitment to research and the integration of new technologies. This perspective has strengthened my professional practice, contributing ideas and strategies applicable to INTEC to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

I would highly recommend the institutional mobility experience. Getting to know other universities, their structures, methodologies, and approaches allows us to broaden our perspective and identify opportunities to improve our own practices. It's an essential experience for academic and professional growth, as well as for strengthening international cooperation and institutional outreach.

Humberto Grullón, professor of the Engineering Department

My experience at the university was excellent; all the activities were scheduled in advance. The university staff gave us a schedule with the activities to do each day.

The agenda was balanced and focused. This allowed us to see a bit of everything, learn about the university and its approach, and how it connects academic activities with businesses. We also visited various university campuses. The agenda also included visits to museums and demonstrations of the university's activities and projects.
