Intec Mipymes Center is recognized for the second consecutive year for its performance during 2019


SANTO DOMINGO. - He Mipymes Center of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) was recognized by second consecutive year by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, as "Best Management 2019", being the only recognized center, of the 25 that operate in different higher education entities nationwide.

With this recognition granted in March during the fourth Annual Conference of MSMEs, organized by the Vice Ministry of Promotion of MSMEs of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, the work of INTEC in the program to support the sector of MSMEs in the Dominican Republic.

In addition, the individual work of several members of the team that makes it up was highlighted: Melissa Libert received the award as "ICT Adviser highlighted 2019"Kania Castellanos as “Outstanding Business Advisor 2019”, and Mayelisa Hidalgo placeholder imageas “Outstanding Administrative Coordinator 2019”.

During 2019 the INTEC MSMEs Center offered 876 consultancies business to 241 Micro, small and medium-sized companies, 103 technical assistance, were developed 25 trainings in business issues and Information and Communication Technology, which as a result of these, managed to generate competencies in these issues for a total of 569 people.

MICM Minister Nelson Toca Simó valued MSMEs as “the backbone of the economy” of the country, maintaining that they represent 99% of the business fabric, contribute 38% of the Gross Domestic Product and generate 2.5 million jobs ” .

About the INTEC Mipymes Center

The Mipymes INTEC Center operates since 2017 as a non-profit service facilitating unit administered under a government-academia alliance. It was born from the Government's initiative, by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MIPYMES (MICM), to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, through the implementation of the Global SBDC Model of the University of Texas in San Antonio, United States.

The main objective of this program is to provide the necessary consulting and services to strengthen the productive capacity, competitiveness and efficiency of this transversal economic sector. There are 25 MSMEs Centers operating nationwide within higher education institutions throughout the Dominican Republic, of which 22 offer business services and 3 offer specialized services in productive innovation, internationalization and digital transformation.
