Center for Gender Studies and the ADEMI Bank Foundation train to combat gender violence
SANTO DOMINGO.- The Center for Gender Studies Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (CEG-INTEC) and ADEMI Bank Foundation They delivered certificates to 31 participants of the course on Eradication of Violence Against Women and Child Abuse, addressed to social and community organizations of Santo Domingo Oeste municipality.
The event, which took place in the Club House of the Agrarian City in Santo Domingo Oeste, was headed by Lourdes Contreras and Desiree del Rosario Sosa, of CEG-INTEC, and by Flavia Infante, Project Coordinator of the ADEMI Foundation. Members of various community organizations, women, and representatives of different governmental bodies attended.
The Center for Gender Studies and the ADEMI Foundation initiated a strategic collaboration partnership in 2012, with the purpose of strengthening the capacities of social and community organizations in the face of the problem of violence against women and child abuse.
Those attending the course on Eradicating Violence against Women and Child Abuse developed a municipal diagnosis of the situation in both aspects, with emphasis on the response of each sector within the municipality to these problems.
To elaborate the diagnosis they considered the sectors Justice, Health, Education, Childhood, Santo Domingo West City Council, Non-governmental and community organizations, as well as the churches.
