We celebrate the ninth 2015 INTECnología Fair!
SANTO DOMINGO.- With the central theme “Robotics and Automation”, the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) inaugurated its novena 201 INTECnología Fair5 to be held on 17 and 18 days in September on the academic campus.
The opening was made during a ceremony that was headed by the rector of INTEC, Dr. Rolando M. Guzmán; the president of the ALTICE Group, Abdelhakim Boubazine and the Academic Vice Chancellor of INTEC, José Feliz, in the Julio Ravelo Room of the Library Fountain.
The program of activities includes conferences of experts, the permanent exhibition of about ten prototypes made by the students, which will be measured in a Project Competition, as well as recreational activities, such as a flight simulator and a mobile planetarium. On Friday the "Hands-on" Competition is held, in which robots made by students, mainly of Mechatronic Engineering, are faced.
Some of the projects that are being presented during the Fair days are: Hydra PH-F1, an intelligent helmet designed for motorcycle drivers to have a better experience through a rear camera equipped with night vision and bluetooth connection to listen to music, perform and answer and calls with a single click and without the need to occupy the hands. Tiboo Locator of lost objects in the home, office or in any space, through a combination of light and sound technology. It is a device equipped with two devices, one that adheres to devices that are frequently lost and the other is a base, which in a first use makes the map of the house and X-Train It is a stabilization system for bridges in electric guitars.
Other projects are the drone Tie Copter, which measures variables on air quality such as density, temperature, speed and level of contamination. Further, Super Cart 2.0, a mobile robot that helps shoppers to have their hands free in supermarkets and Filit, a container that provides information about the level of liquid in a container and its temperature for blind or visually impaired people, among others.
Similarly, during the Fair the university's online educational station Radio INTEC (radio.intec.edu.do) was presented, one whose booth works in the Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi library on the academic campus.
INTECnología is an educational space open to the public, in which there are companies and technological and educational institutions with expert teachers and students, as a way to motivate them to explore the innovative potential of the solutions they propose as a result of academic work.
Background
Since its creation in 2005, INTECnología has served as a scenario for hundreds of students to present to society the technological equipment they have developed, testing the knowledge acquired in class with an orientation to improve the quality of life and meet specific needs of the Dominican population.
Likewise, at the Fair, technology companies present their most innovative projects and national and international experts share their knowledge on global trends in science, technology and innovation.
INTECnología is organized by the Vice-rectory of Research and Linking of the INTEC through the Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) with the support of the academic areas, and pursues that its professors and students show to the national community the activities and technological products resulting from the academic work, while representing an opportunity for institutions and companies to show visitors their innovations and the results of their research, applications and acquired experiences.
