CEG INTEC presents the book "Miradas Desencadenantes", on challenges of human mobility with a gender perspective

Santo Domingo, March 9, 2023. Human mobility in the Dominican Republic requires alliances to respond to the causes of displacement and lack of documentation, as well as to reinforce the structural policies of equity, comprehensive social protection and citizenship of these populations, without discrimination.

This claim was made during the launch of volume 6 of the book. Trigger Looks: a gender perspective on the challenges and inequalities in the new migratory contexts; human trafficking, nationality and refuge in the Dominican Republic.

The publication Trigger Looks, construction of knowledge for equality, is carried out periodically by the Center for Gender Studies Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), to analyze from an academic space topics of general interest, problems, approaches and contributions of gender studies. For this, it brings together members of the academic, scientific, artistic and social movement communities, women's organizations and feminists of the Dominican Republic.

This volume addresses migration from a gender perspective in 10 essays written from the experience of authors in different disciplines such as law, art, public policies, along with the urgent challenges faced by women, youth, girls and children in a situation of mobility to and from the Dominican Republic.

The essays were presented at the XI Conference on Gender Studies "Construction of Knowledge for Equality", a theme dedicated to academic perspectives on the subject of human mobility and inequalities in the new migratory contexts. This approach was promoted after the agreement signed through the CEG by INTEC in 2020 with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

This volume of Trigger Looks It was also possible thanks to the work implemented by the Sergio Vieira de Mello Chair (CSVM) in the country, an initiative created by the UN Refugee Agenda (UNHCR) to promote education, research and academic outreach aimed at population under his command. In addition to disseminating university teaching on issues related to international protection, the Chair also wants to promote academic training and the training of teachers and students within this theme.
