They train to eradicate violence against women


SANTO DOMINGO.- The Center for Gender Studies of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (CEG-INTEC) trained 29 community leaders and representatives of social organizations that participated in the course “Eradication of violence against women in the local context”.

The course, which was conducted under the auspices of the ADEMI Bank Foundation, has the objective of strengthening the capacities of social and community organizations to confront violence against women and child abuse. On this occasion, it had a representation of 19 non-governmental and community organizations, state institutions and local government, from the Domingo Sabio, María Auxiliadora and Social Improvement sectors of the National District.

As part of the program, a municipal diagnosis was carried out, based on the actions and responses of the attendees regarding the problem of violence against women for the Justice, Health, Education, Non-Governmental and Community Organizations and Churches sectors.

The training process was aimed at people with responsibilities in the comprehensive approach to violence against women who, as a way to face this problem, became a steering committee to promote a Local Network for a Life without Violence. 

The act of delivering certificates was carried out in the facilities of the Center for Medical Education of Japanese Dominican Friendship (CEMADOJA) and was headed by Desiree del Rosario, academic coordinator of CEG-INTEC and Alejandro Montero, director of CEMADOJA; Mariela Jáquez Arias and Albania Genao, coordinators of the program and Esther Ayala, representing the Gender Unit of the Mayor's Office of the National District.

CEG-INTEC and the ADEMI Bank Foundation have maintained a strategic cooperation alliance since the 2012 year.
