BIM: a tool to have adequate information on a construction project

SANTO DOMINGO. -The Construction Information Modeling (BIM) methodology is a shared knowledge resource that allows construction professionals to obtain a reliable database for decision-making during the life cycle of the draft.

The teacher of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Omar Ramos assured that “BIM is nothing more than the use of technology, not only software, but drones to achieve a greater benefit from work, make life easier for builders and be able to obtain greater benefits in our development. professional".

During the Professional Meeting "Development of construction projects: BIM methodology", held by the master's degree in Construction Administration Sciences, Ramos said that this collaborative system provides the ability to work and communicate effectively through a platform.

"This helps us to communicate, through technology, to obtain quality results, programming, simulation, risk assessments and feasibility study on the different platforms," said the teacher.

Regarding the benefits of the BIM resource, he identified the adaptation to new trends, an increase in the quality of projects and works, a reduction in total project execution costs, greater transport of information and obtaining reliable data on the sustainability of the works. In addition, he mentioned the optimization of the management costs of the properties in service, support in decision-making in the project phase through dynamic simulations and market dynamization.

On her side, the teacher Brenda Jiménez, explained that at a general level the system is based on three large blocks: processes, technology and people. He highlighted that the phases are composed of planning information, design information and construction information and, in addition, the operational phase that includes operation information.

The event was attended by Martín Abbott, coordinator of the master's degree in Construction Administration Sciences at INTEC.
