Author Alanna Lockward presents book "Un Haití Dominicano"


SANTO DOMINGO. With the celebration of a colloquium between historians, sociologists and students, the Dominican author Alanna Lockward presented at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) his work "A Dominican Haiti: Ghost Tattoos and Bilateral Narratives (1994-2014)".

The author, resident in Germany, made the presentation in the Julio Ravelo de la Fuente Room during a discussion that was directed by Dr. Héctor Rodríguez Cruz, who was in charge of presenting the book; Raúl Recio, artist and illustrator of the work that presented his collection of old publications on the Dominican-Haitian theme and the Dominican journalist residing in the United States Sara Pérez.

Also during the event was presented the documentary project carried out by the author "Reporte Allen: A Journey through Transnational African Methodism" awarded with production support from FONPROCINE 2013.

Alanna Lockward is the author of the novel Marassá y la Nada (Sanctuary, 2013) and "Apremio: notes on contemporary thought and creation from the Caribbean" (Cendeac, 2006). She was the cultural editor of Listín Diario, a researcher at Rumbo magazine and a columnist for the Miami Herald. He is currently a columnist for the digital newspaper Acento.com. 

At the Museum of Modern Art, she served as International Affairs Officer (1988) and collaborated as the Selection Jury of the XX National Visual Arts Biennial (1996) and as the Award Jury in her 26 edition (2011).

Lockward resides in Berlin and directs Art Labor Archives, a platform for interdisciplinary events in the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the United States, founded at 1996. At the same time, he has conceptualized and produced BE.BOP BLACK EUROPE BODY POLITICS (2012-2014) in the avant-garde theatrical space, Ballhaus Naunynstrasse and is the general manager of the Transnational Decolonial Institute. As curator, she has been awarded by the Allianz Cultural Foundation, the Danish Arts Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers.
