Announced First International Congress of Structural Engineering
The First International Congress of Structural Engineering, to be held in five universities simultaneously next 24 and Friday 25 this month, will present to 12 international exhibitors and 13 international, who are linked to the design and development of seismic codes in their respective countries
The event, organized by Computers & Structures Inc. and Morrison Ingenieros, will be held simultaneously at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), the Organization and Methods University (O&M), the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and the Ibero-American University (UNIBE).
Among the topics to be discussed are Reinforcing Concrete and Masonry Structures with FRP, Seismic Microzoning in large cities, Structural Design with elastomeric insulators, Steel-resistant Earthquake Design, Structural Damping, Post-tensioned Buildings, Analysis of Wind Structures, among others . The congress will be dedicated to engineer Luis Saillant Objío.
"In all countries there is always a need to know new technologies, the more the country is trained in new technologies, that way it will generate safer structures," said Hilton Lee Astwood, lecturer and speaker of the conference.
To share the experiences of Latin America, the engineers José Restrepo and Jorge Rendón, from Colombia will be exhibiting; Roberto Aguiar Falconi and Jorge Raad Silva, from Ecuador; Yader Jarquín Montalván, from Nicaragua; Oscar Ramírez, from Panama; and Jorge Cabanillas Rodríguez, from Peru.
Also, the engineers Balhan Altayeb Alsaadi, Alan Heinsen and Aneuris Hernández de Puerto Rico; Eduardo Núñez, from Venezuela and Dominicans living in the United States, Dionisio Bernal and Eric Hernández, among others.
