ADRU analyzes the situation of higher education in the DR


Santo Domingo. The Dominican Association of Rectors of Universities (ADRU) held a workshop where they analyzed the Report of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (ODCE, for its acronym in English) on the situation of higher education in the Dominican Republic.

The objective of the meeting, where more than 60 representatives from the ADRU member entities met, was to define which aspects of the report are useful for the Dominican system and what aspects to improve in terms of access, quality, relevance and efficiency, structure of the offer of higher education, future demand, financing, scientific research, technology and innovation, system management and institutional governance, in line with the chapters of the report.

The event was opened and welcomed by Julio Amado Castaños and Rolando Guzmán, rector of the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), respectively.

Among the speakers were José Agustín De Miguel, of INTEC, Juan Francisco Fernández, of the Universidad Catolica Tecnológica del Cibao (UCATECI), Fernando Hernández, of the Open University for Adults (UAPA) and Esteban Tiburcio, of the Technological Institute of the Cibao Oriental ( ITECO).
