Attorney Mary Fernandez assumes presidency of the Board of Regents


SANTO DOMINGO. The Board of Regents of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) swore yesterday to its new board that will be chaired by renowned lawyer Mary Fernandez, accompanied by Civil Engineer Miguel Gil Mejía, as vice president, and by Fabiola Herrera, as secretary of that university government body.

Fernández holds a degree in Law from the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), with a postgraduate degree in Political Science and International Law from Georgia State University in Atlanta, United States. In addition, she is a founding partner of the Headrick Rizik Álvarez & Fernández law firm. He succeeds the engineer Claudia De los Santos, who presided over the organization during the period 2015-2016. 

The Board of Regents is the body of management and legal representation of INTEC and is made up of fifteen members, among whom is the rector of the academy, Rolando M. Guzmán, along with other outstanding people from the national community and graduates who, statutorily, they constitute the majority. Its members make up, together with the founders of INTEC, the General Assembly, which is the highest governing body in the institution.

The new Vice President of the Board of Regents, Miguel Gil Mejía has a master's degree Technological Institute and of Superior Studies of Monterrey, Mexico and is Executive Vice President of the company UNIPAGO. The new Secretary, Fabiola Herrera, has a degree in Computer Science from the UNPHU, with specialties in Mathematics, Systems Analysis and Project Management, and serves as Director of Payment Systems of the central bank.

The Board of Regents is periodically renewed and the members that constitute it carry out their functions voluntarily and honorably.
