51 young people experienced a summer of science, technology and innovation at the INTEC STEM Summer Camp
More than just a summer camp, the STEM SUMMER CAMP allowed children and young people to take an active role in science and technology.
SANTO DOMINGO – The Center for Educational Studies of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) concluded the days of its STEM Summer Camp, an institutional initiative that during its two rounds managed to impact 51 Dominican children and young people through immersive experiences in the scientific and technological field.
During the program, participants engaged in activities that included project design, conducting experiments, and guided visits to laboratories.
Through these challenges and practical activities, the camp focused on strengthening essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.
This immersion allowed students to directly approach the university environment and explore firsthand the opportunities offered by the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The INTEC STEM coordination team emphasized that the main purpose of this camp is to awaken an early interest in science through direct experimentation, enabling participants to acquire analytical tools and develop a problem-solving mindset, preparing them for the challenges of the future.
An experience that helps discover vocations
The STEM Summer Camp went beyond simply learning scientific and technological concepts. During interviews conducted at the program's conclusion, students described the camp as an interesting, innovative, and fun experience; some expressed that the activities helped them solidify their choice of career or professional field after graduation.
After completing its two rounds, the STEM Summer Camp is consolidating itself as one of INTEC's spaces to bring new generations closer to science and technology through experimentation and practical learning.
