Minister of Higher Education holds a working meeting with INTEC authorities


SANTO DOMINGO. The minister de Higher Education, Science and Technology, Franklin Garcia Fermín, held a meeting with the authorities of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), with whom he spoke about the projects that drives the academy, and the agenda of the higher education in situation of pandemic.

During the meeting, which was held in the Hall of the Rectory of INTEC, García Fermín valued that the situation facing higher education is complex, and will require the participation of various sectors of national life.

“Obviously the great challenge we have is that of virtual education, which later will have to be blended, because virtuality has come to stay ”, explained García Fermín, who announced that to face the new challenges of the pandemic in higher education, many resources, a lot of work and the support of many institutions will be required . It's about the first visit carried out by the official at a university since he took office, after visiting the state entity. 

García Fermín expressed satisfaction at visiting the university, which he described as avant-garde, and appreciated its commitment to quality and contributions in terms of research and innovation. The minister also valued several ideas that emerged in the framework of the meeting, and expressed his interest in promoting them from his position.

In this sense, the Rector of INTEC, Rolando M. Guzman, expressed his confidence that the administration led by García Fermín will consolidate the advances of the higher education system. The INTEC also participated in the meeting, the Academic Vice-Rectors, Jose Feliz Marrero; Research and Linkage, Víctor Gómez Valenzuela; and Administration and Finance, Alfonso Casanovas.

During the meeting, the academics presented to the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology some of the main aspects of the Strategic Plan developed by the university, which include the development of doctoral programs, curricular reform, progress in accreditation and virtualization processes, as well as the scope of the investigation and connection of INTEC with the productive sectors, among others.
