Miguel Aybar awarded as Researcher of the year 2022
Researchers Ulises Jauregui-Haza and Félix Santos were also recognized at the event, as well as two editors of INTEC academic journals and two past members of the university's Research Council.
SANTO DOMINGO. - The doctor Miguel Aybar, Research professor in the Engineering Area of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), was recognized as researcher of the year 2022, during the closing of the fourth Science Week held by the university.
Aybar, who is the first graduate of INTEC's doctorate in Energy Management for Sustainable Development, had high scientific production during the year that was evaluated, with publication of articles in academic journals in which he appeared as the main author.
Aybar developed the doctoral thesis "Energy management system for smart microgrids, integrated into low-voltage electrical networks for the conditions of the Dominican Republic", with the objective of designing an energy management system that allows the integration of a smart electrical microgrid with renewable penetration in low voltage electrical systems, adapted to the climatic conditions of the country.
As part of the development of the research, to opt for the title of Doctor in Energy Management for Sustainable Development, the INTEC research professor obtained financing from the National Fund for Innovation and Scientific and Technological Development (FONDOCYT) of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Technology (MESCyT). With the resources, he implemented a microgrid on the INTEC campus that had a year of uninterrupted operation.
The results of the research have been presented at international conferences and published in specialized scientific journals including: Applied Energy, Applied Sciences, IEEE Access, Energies and Electronics, where it is indicated that the control strategy used in the microgrid, and in the controllers of the elements that make it up, maintains stable control parameters.
Aybar is a graduate of several INTEC training programs, he completed the degree in Electrical Engineering (2000-2005), and the Postgraduate Data Telecommunications (2007-2008), Masters in Renewable Energy Technology (2010-2013) and Master of Engineering Maintenance (2013-2015).
The Researcher Award ceremony was led by Carlos Sanlley, director of Research, who, when giving the opening speech, valued the work carried out by the INTEC research teachers, whose research projects respond to the problems that affect society and are part of the contribution of the university to the development of the country.
Other acknowledgments
