INTEC and ISA will invest in virtual and augmented reality to transform higher education
The alliance between the universities will allow the development of immersive learning experiences, joint research, and new educational resources supported by emerging technologies.
SANTO DOMINGO. - El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and ISA University (UNISA) signed a strategic alliance to develop educational experiences based on virtual reality and augmented reality, with the aim of innovating in their teaching processes and strengthening the training of professionals prepared for the challenges of the digital age.
Through the agreement, signed by the Rector of INTEC, Arturo Del Villar and the Rector of ISA, Edwin Reyes, the academies combine their academic and research experience with the technological capabilities of INTEC's Extended Reality Laboratory, considered one of the most innovative university spaces in the country for the development of immersive experiences applied to education.
As a result of this collaboration, the universities will design and validate teaching resources that incorporate immersive technologies, allowing students and teachers to interact with virtual environments that facilitate practical learning, the understanding of complex concepts, and the development of professional skills.
The initiative also includes joint research, some focused on the sustainable use of sargassum; exchanges of professors and students, scientific publications, shared academic programs, and the collaborative use of laboratories and research centers.
“This alliance will allow us to accelerate educational innovation and create solutions with real impact for the training of the professionals that the country demands,” said Arturo Del Villar, rector of INTEC, during the signing ceremony, while the rector of ISA, Edwin Reyes, predicted that, working as a team, both academies can generate very interesting opportunities that will impact the Dominican educational system.
In addition to the technological component, the collaboration will promote projects in strategic areas such as agribusiness, environmental sustainability, applied sciences and innovation, taking advantage of the complementary strengths of both institutions.
Universities will also work on teacher training programs focused on the effective integration of new technologies in the classroom.
With this alliance, INTEC and ISA University consolidate a platform for academic and scientific cooperation that seeks to accelerate the digital transformation of Dominican higher education, promote applied research, and generate innovative solutions to respond to the challenges of national development.
Present at the signing ceremony on behalf of INTEC were Vice-Rectors Rosario Aróstegui, for Research and Outreach, and Shajira Nazir, for Academic Affairs; Luis Rodríguez de Francisco, Dean of the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences; Jeanette Chaljub, Academic Coordinator of the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences and in charge of the Extended Reality Laboratory at INTEC; and Carlos Sanlley, Director of Research.
Representing Isa University were Anabel Then, Academic Vice-Rector, Josefina Rosario, Vice-Rector of Research, Postgraduate Studies and Continuing Education, and Cindy Cristóbal, Vice-Rector of Outreach and Development.
