INTEC delivers certificates to the first promotion of concentration in Project Management


SANTO DOMINGO - El Technological Institute of Santo Domingor (INTEC) delivered certificates to the first promotion of 37 graduates for the concentration in Project Management.  

The event celebrated the closing of a certification whose objective is to add a differentiating element to the students of the Engineering Area, on project management, a sector of high demand in the workplace.

The event held at the INTEC Social Security Auditorium was directed by Jorge Miranda, Professor of Industrial Engineering, and featured a special intervention by Julio Sánchez Maríñez, INTEC rector; Arturo del Villar, Dean of the Engineering Area; Ángela Méndez, mentor of Region 13 of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Daniela Navas, president of the Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) in the country.

"Our concentrations serve as an instrument to link with the specific needs of professional practice, to this we add our postgraduate offer, with specialties and masters, and our continuing education courses," said the rector Sánchez Maríñez when he addressed a congratulatory message to the graduates.

Sánchez Maríñez explained that the graduations of this type of programs allow graduates to connect with the needs that lie ahead and announced that a new round of the master's degree in Project Management is expected to begin in May of this year.

Angela Mendez, representative of Project Management InstituteHe commented that the certification will be of great benefit for the professional development of the graduates. "Project management is a cross-cutting ability to all professions, to all tasks and those skills are necessary to be able to succeed in life," he said.

The concentration in Project Management is based on the Guide to the Fundamentals of Project Management (PMBOK® Guide) of the Project Management Institute (PMI), which addresses skills necessary for all professionals and contemplated in the talent triangle, such as such as technical project management, leadership, strategy and business.

The students dedicated 220 hours to this special certification and, for this, they took two core subjects of the curriculum and three electives. These subjects were Project Formulation and Evaluation (core in engineering), Project Management (core in industrial engineering), Project team management. (elective), Project Constraints Management (elective) and Project Management Tools. (elective).

The event also featured the intervention of some students who related their experiences taking the program. “I am very happy to be part of this promotion, to have carried out this concentration. The tools and knowledge that we take with us today is not only to carry out projects in the labor field, but also personally ”, were the words of the student Camila Rodríguez.
