Huawei and INTEC will start ICT Talent Development Plan


SANTO DOMINGO.- With the intention of establish links de academic cooperation, Huawei and Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo(INTEC) signed a memorandum to start a Huawei ICT Talent Development Plan at the academy of higher studies.

Huawei's ICT Talent Development Plan is a global project that aims to create a bridge between Industry and study academies, transferring its experience and knowledge with the latest technologies to the academic world, and subsequently opening employability opportunities. for certified young talents generated by this program.

With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, Huawei and INTEC express the intention of establishing a cooperation agreement through which Huawei will act like trainer and provider of Technical support to INTEC, in order to provide the conditions for the university to carry out training and certification programs for its students and teachers.

The rector of INTEC, Julio Sanchez Marinez, said that having a Huawei academy at the university is a reason for honor, pride and at the same time a great opportunity. "We congratulate Huawei for its presence in the country, for the support it has given to our society and to different universities, and we guarantee that INTEC will get the most out of this alliance," he said. 

"I am sure that, just as we have achieved a stable alliance for 10 years with China, we will also celebrate many years of work with the Huawei ICT Academy at Intec", added Sánchez Maríñez, in his speech of thanks.

Part of the purpose of this agreement is the donation of high-tech equipment to establish the Huawei ICT Academy at INTEC, which has a certified training program that covers an extensive range of technical fields such as routing and switching, storage, cloud, WLAN, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

"It is an honor for me to support outstanding people, like all of you, who share the same vision of contributing and transferring knowledge to our young talents who, with the union of our efforts, would have the opportunity to develop in the field of ICTs", he claimed Cai Yifan, general manager of Huawei Dominicana. 

He noted as notable the great development of ICT and digitization in recent years, "the pandemic greatly accelerates the trend towards digitization, and more countries have already established digital transformation as a national strategy," he said.  

Huawei has been carrying out this project in cooperation with higher education institutions around the world since 2013, associated with more than 925 international universities in 72 countries until 2019.

Present for INTEC were Arturo del Villar, Academic Vice Chancellor; Alliet Ortega, Vice-Rector for Administration and Finance; Nylenis Nina, Acting Dean of the Engineering Area; Erick Barinas, Director of Information and Communication Technologies; Lorenzo Martínez, Systems Engineering coordinator and Reiner Campillo, ICT Academy coordinator.

Huawei was attended by Yang Xin Liu, VP Enterprise Business & Government; Hu Wei, EBG regional channel director; Yunessis Sánchez, manager of Public Relations; Mateo Terrero, Channel Manager; Fabio Brito, Manager of Educational Accounts and Leo Mercedes, Manager of Accounts.
