MINERD recognizes INTEC professor for her contributions to Dominican education
SANTO DOMINGO. - Berenice Pacheco-Salazar, research professor of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), was awarded by the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) during the recognition ceremony prominent women in the educational community, held as part of the commemoration of International Women's Day.
The award recognizes her academic career, her commitment to educational research, and her contributions to strengthening policies and practices aimed at a more equitable education in the Dominican Republic.
Pacheco-Salazar is dPhD in Education from the University of Sevillepsychologist and mMaster's degree in Gender and Cooperation for Development from INTEC. She is currently undertaking postdoctoral studies at the University of Alcalá, focusing on leadership and management of educational institutions in Latin America.
Throughout more than two decades of work in education and international cooperation, she has contributed to the development of diagnoses, research and public policy proposals aimed at promoting education as a right and as the basis of the dignity of girls and women.
As a teacher at INTEC during 18 yearsPacheco-Salazar has trained generations of teachers in undergraduate and graduate programs, in addition to promoting various educational research projects. She also currently directs the academic journal Science and Education.
His academic output includes More than 20 books and educational resources and more than 25 articles published in indexed scientific books and journals. Among his publications, the books “Being, existing and living together at school” and "From violence to solidarity”, works that have contributed to positioning school coexistence as a key issue on the national educational agenda.
During the event, the Ministry of Education highlighted the contributions of women who, through teaching, research, and educational management, have helped transform the Dominican education system and expand learning opportunities for new generations.
The recognition of Dr. Pacheco-Salazar acknowledges the role of academia in building knowledge and promoting an education committed to the country's social development.
