INTEC delivers 15 new graduates of specialties in ophthalmology


This is the tenth graduation ceremony of the residence in several specialties of ophthalmology developed by the INTEC and the Christian Center of Medical Services

SANTO DOMINGO. -The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the Christian Medical Services Center (CCSM) delivered 15 new graduates of specialties in ophthalmology, En of nineteenth ceremony graduation of Medical Residency Program in Ophthalmology.

In the academic act, which was held in the Julio Ravelo de la Fuente Room of the university, the entities awarded degrees to eight graduates of the specialty in Ophthalmology, a graduate of the specialty in Glaucoma, a graduate of Neuro-Ophthalmology, one of the specialty in Oculoplasty, three graduates of the specialty in Retina and Vitreous and a graduate of Previous Segment.

The ceremony was led by Juan F. Batlle, chief of the Ophthalmology Service; the dean of the INTEC Health Sciences Area, Miguel Ernesto Robiou and Friné Salazar, academic coordinator of the program.

The graduates of the Specialty in Ophthalmology are Dr. Paola Fernández Muñoz (Santiago), Cristina Fernanda Flor Herrera (Quito, Ecuador), Mayelinne García Méndez (Santo Domingo), Odette Anaís Guzmán Suárez (Santiago), José Enrique Maldonado Castillo (Montemorelos, United Mexicans), Francisco José Mena Martínez (Monterrey, United States of Mexico), Jorge Manuel Ponce Núñez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras), Mariel de Jesús Warden Fernández (La Vega).

While, of the Specialty in Glaucoma received its title Javier Omar Sánchez Espinoza (Lima, Peru); of the Specialty in Neuro-Ophthalmology, José Ignacio Camilo Benavides Barrantes (Lima, Peru); of the Specialty in Oculoplasty, David García Silva (Querétaro, México), and the Specialty in Anterior Segment, Dahiana De Jesús Pérez (Santo Domingo).

The Christian Center for Medical Services Hospital doctor Elías Santana is a non-profit institution that provides ophthalmological services to people with limited resources. The Medical Residency in Ophthalmology program has the university endorsement of INTEC from 2008. And since then, it has national graduates, and others who come from India, the United States, Russia, Armenia, France, Mexico and Peru, among others.

El INTEC Health Sciences Area has a wide range of specialties in ophthalmology in: Neuro-ophthalmology, Clinical Bioethics, Fundamental Bioethics, Cornea and Refractive Surgerya, Ocular Ultrasound, Management of Health and Social Security Services, Glaucoma, Oculoplasty, Retina and Vitreo, Previous Segment, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Estra, and Medical Residency in Ophthalmology.

The postgraduate offer in Health includes, in addition, the Specialty in Clinical Nutriology and masters in Bioethics, Clinical Nutriology, Obesology and Dietetics, and in Integral Health of the Adolescent.
