Graduate of Medicine Elected President of the Dominican Society of Cardiology


SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Society of Cardiology (SODOCARDIO) chose the doctor Fausto Warden, graduated of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), as their president for the period 2019-2021.

Warden turned out winner in front of his colleague Pura Henríquez, with a total of 58.53% of the votes in front of an 41.4%, according to the bulletin of the Electoral Commission of SODOCARDIO. Upon knowing the results, the president-elect made a called to unit to reach the objectives common Society.

Warden is cardiologist-echocardiographer. It was vice-president for the Dominican Society of Cardiology, fellow American College Of Cardiology and made a postgraduate en cardiology in the Hospital Salvador B. Gautier of the Dominican Institute of Social Security IDSS. He carried out his studies of echocardiography in National Institute of Cardiology Dr. Ignacio Chávez, Mexico.

In addition, Warden is Director of the Department Dr. Luis M. Morillo King Echocardiography Hospital, The Vega, and editor of the Medical Magazine Corazones del Cibao. It was also president for the Provincial La Vega of the Dominican Medical College (CMD) and past president of the North chapter of the Dominican Society of Cardiology, as well as professor of cardiology at the Universidad Católica del Cibao (UCATECI).

 "To our knowledge, there have been no victories or victories, but rather an evident display of maturity, growth, commitment, inclusion and democracy," he said in a letter sent to cardiologists.

He affirmed that it is the duty of each cardiologist to ensure the continuity and multiplication of the positive effort of the large number of prestigious leaders, all successful, that SODOCARDIO has had since its foundation at the 16 in April of the 1962.

He reiterated that the new directive, which he will assume in August, will focus on stimulating scientific research, as well as establishing social plans, facilitating and strengthening the recertification process for cardiologists.

He expressed that will promote policies that contribute in a greater integration of the cardiologist to all the activities of society. Promote and expand the cardiovascular prevention programs, at the same time that it will elaborate in a consensual way projects and long-term reforms that facilitate the actions of society and research.

Other intecian doctors preside over medical societies

El last year that medical graduates of the INTEC, Alejandra Peña Soto y Freddy Antonio Flores, were chosen as presidents for the Dominican Society of Gastroenterology and the Dominican Society of Neurology and Neurosurgery, respectively, for the period 2018-2020.
