Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities of INTEC receives recognition
SANTO DOMINGO. The Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities of the INTEC, Dalul Ordehi Gonzalez, was recognized by Mental Health Collective for its constants contributions from the generation of evidence and the formation of new generations of mental health professionals in the Dominican Republic.
During the activity, which was held as part of the celebration of the World Mental Health Day, Ordehi González was awarded a plaque of recognition. In the same ceremony, the Dominican Society of Psychiatry awarded the distinction as Master of Dominican Psychiatry to Antonio Zaglul Elmúdesi, in posthumous tribute, and recognized Tirso Mejía Ricart, who died last year.
Wendy Alba, director and founder of the Mental Health Collective, highlighted that the poor investment in mental health and the deepening of inequality and social inequity are the main causes of the increase in violence, insecurity and suicides in Dominican society. He insisted that the 2014 World Health Organization (WHO) figures remain unchanged, which show that the country only invested the equivalent of 4.9 Dominican pesos in mental health per capita.
He stressed that the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the mental health problem in the Dominican population, creating a more complex care scenario, incorporating new elements and posing new demands for care.
Dalul Ordehi González
Psychologist graduated from INTEC, recognized as a Young National Talent, from the INTEC program with Outstanding Students, PIES. He has a Doctorate in Psychology with Orientation in Applied Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Maimonides, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and also studied a specialty in Initial Education at INTEC.
She is a founding member of the Ibero-American Neuroscience Network and a teacher of the Diploma in Neuroscience-Based Learning in Argentina and Puerto Rico. He is part of the Neuroscience and Mental Health team at the Center for Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine (Cedimat). He has been a teacher in the area of Social Sciences and Humanities since 2012 without interruption, and has held different positions at INTEC.
