INTEC and Anton Paar strengthen collaboration between academia and industry with a seminar on applied rheology
The institutions held a seminar in which the following participated: professionals from the plastics industry, researchers, teachers and students
SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the Austrian company Anton Paar They held the seminar “Introduction to Rheology applied to Polymers and Biopolymers”, in which professionals from the plastics industry, researchers, teachers and students strengthened technical capacities and promoted the exchange of knowledge about the behavior of materials, their impact on industrial processes and quality assurance.
The activity, carried out through the Bioplastics and Biomaterials Innovation Unit of the Environmental Management Center (CEGA), included the participation of Marysol Ortiz Morales, a chemist with a master's degree from the National University of Colombia and Territory Manager de Anton Paar United States, and Andrés Posada, a chemist with a doctorate in polymer chemistry from the University of Bayreuth and an international specialist in rheometry of Anton Paar Germany.
Topics covered included an introduction to rheology, fundamental concepts, and polymer characterization using technology Anton Paar and the rheological analysis of polymers and biopolymers, connecting scientific theory with practical applications in the industrial field.
In her welcoming remarks, Rosario Aróstegui, Vice-Rector of Research and Outreach at INTEC, highlighted that rheology is a key tool for understanding how materials flow and deform, optimizing processes, and supporting decision-making in strategic sectors such as plastics, pharmaceuticals, construction, food, and biomaterials.
He also highlighted that this alliance with Anton Paar, a leading company in scientific instrumentation, contributes to bringing advanced technologies closer to academia and the productive sector, while promoting specialized training based on international standards.
The seminar also aimed to serve as a bridge to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia and open opportunities for market development. Anton Paar in the Caribbean.
The event was attended by the university's Director of Research, Carlos Sanlley; the Dean of the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences, Luis Rodríguez de Francisco; the CEGA Coordinator, Diana Corrales; the research professor of the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences, Yaset Rodríguez Rodríguez; the Head of the Reactors and Bioreactors Laboratory, Pamela Tejada Tejada, among others.
