Ladies and Gentlemen,

In the name of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, I am pleased to formally welcome you to INTECnology, the largest exhibition of creativity and work of a technological nature in the university environment of our country. My welcome is accompanied by an expression of gratitude to the personalities, both from the public and private sectors, who have granted us the honor of being with us on this day, especially the Ambassador of the Indian Republic.

INTECNOLOGÍA is essentially an expression of INTEC's commitment to defining a new pattern of growth and development in the Dominican Republic, in which science, technology and innovation should play an increasingly relevant role.

In this sense, I would like to recall the proposal of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), according to which “one cannot think of long-term policies without taking into account the role that science, technology and innovation ”.

The role of innovation and technology as part of an economic and social strategy is of special relevance for Dominican society, which faces the challenge of expanding its insertion capacity into world trade.

INTECNOLOGÍA also represents the image of a modern university, which seeks to combine teaching activity with research activity in equal measure, not only by teachers but also by each of its students.

And, of course, technological activity cannot be detached from a specific cultural framework. Therefore, the technological exhibitions that we will have in these three days will be combined with different cultural and artistic expressions, with a particular emphasis on our guest country, India.

In order not to prolong my words, I would like finally to thank the companies that have contributed in different ways to the event, whose names will be highlighted later, and congratulate our students and teachers for the fruits of the intense work in recent months. And having said this, it only remains for me to wish that you enjoy the various exhibitions and activities, and that INTECnology serves to renew our faith in the capacities of a youth that, as indicated in our Hymn, “is known to be destined to create a new society".
